Everyday Adjectives
Hey again, English learners. In our previous two posts we’ve covered some of the most common everyday phrases and sentence patterns. Check them out here. For today’s post, I want to go down a list of common adjectives.
These are my favorite kinds of words because they are the descriptive words. They are the words you can use to give a certain poetry to your language. Get armed with adjectives and you’ll always have something to say. Here are some of the basics.
Good = bueno
I watched a good movie last night.
Great = excelente / re bueno
I have some great news.
Amazing = increíble / asombroso (very good)
He’s an amazing person.
Awesome = buenísimo / genial
The weather is awesome today.
Fantastic = fantástico
That’s a fantastic song.
Exciting = emocionante
Traveling is so exciting.
Bad = malo
He’s so bad at singing.
Terrible = terrible
He tells terrible jokes.
Awful = horrible / malísimo
That was an awful thing to say.
Horrible = horrible
Look at that horrible wallpaper.
Frightening = espantoso / aterrador
It’s so frightening.
Beautiful = hermoso
She’s beautiful.
Pretty = bonito
It’s a pretty town.
Attractive = lindo / atractivo
The salary is attractive.
Sexy = sexy
You look sexy in red.
Ugly = feo
His dog is very ugly.
Hideous = espantoso / abominable
What a hideous creature.
Unattractive = poco attractive / desagradable
He offered me an unattractive deal.
Boring = aburrido
My brother is boring.
The great thing about adjectives is that there are so many synonyms. Take some of the basic adjectives and see what other nice words you can find by using a thesaurus. Enjoy.
