And just what is the difference between &#8216;Specially&#8217; and &#8216;Especially&#8217;? Their <span style=\"color: #29abe2;\">adjective<\/span> forms can help to show the difference between them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Special<\/strong> is a common word that means <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">particular<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">unique<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">uncommon<\/span> or <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">outstanding<\/span>.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #333333;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <em>\u201c This chef has a <span style=\"color: #29abe2;\">special<\/span> method for making cakes\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Especial<\/strong> is an old word that means \u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">of exceptional importance<\/span>\u201d. <u>It is very rarely used today<\/u>.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #333333;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <em>\u201c He has an <span style=\"color: #29abe2;\">especial<\/span> fear of spiders\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 (A more common way of saying this sentence today would be \u201c<em>He has an <span style=\"color: #29abe2;\">exceptional<\/span> fear of spiders\u201d<\/em>)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Despite <span style=\"color: #29abe2;\"><em>special<\/em><\/span> being much more common than <span style=\"color: #29abe2;\"><em>especial<\/em><\/span>, in their <span style=\"color: #29abe2;\">adverb<\/span> forms <span style=\"color: #29abe2;\"><em>especially <\/em><\/span>is much more common than <em><span style=\"color: #29abe2;\">specially<\/span>.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Specially<\/strong> is only used to show something has been <u>done in a special way<\/u>, and so is not very common.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #333333;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <em>\u201c I don\u2019t want to be treated <span style=\"color: #29abe2;\">specially<\/span>\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Especially<\/strong> is much more common, and means <u>particularly or more than normal<\/u>. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #333333;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <em>\u201c It is <span style=\"color: #29abe2;\">especially<\/span> important to exercise a lot if you eat a lot of fatty food\u201d<br \/>\n<\/em><\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u201c I love vegetables. <span style=\"color: #29abe2;\">Especially<\/span> broccoli.\u201d<br \/>\n<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">If you are not sure what to choose \u2013<span style=\"color: #29abe2;\"> choose \u201cespecially\u201d<\/span> \u2013 it is far more common than \u201c<span style=\"color: #29abe2;\">specially<\/span>\u201d.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-1019-4\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/en-ingles.com.ar\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/specially3.mp3?_=4\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/en-ingles.com.ar\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/specially3.mp3\">https:\/\/en-ingles.com.ar\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/specially3.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>No or Not<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Knowing when to say \u2018<span style=\"color: #29abe2;\"><em>no<\/em><\/span>\u2019 or \u2018<span style=\"color: #29abe2;\"><em>not<\/em><\/span>\u2019 can really show an advanced English user.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">If you are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">answering a question<\/span>, always use \u201c<span style=\"color: #29abe2;\">no<\/span>\u201d.
